THE TREMBLING WILBURYS
AT HORSLEY TOWERS, SUNDAY 4th JUNE The Trembling Wilburys is the UK's finest tribute to the Traveling Wilburys, the amazing rock supergroup created in 1988 by George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne. The band features a line-up of top musicians and vocalists who perfectly recreate the unique sounds and style of these legendary artists, delivering a high-octane show of the highest standard. Tickets are £22.50 plus booking fee - click here to book The original Traveling Wilburys never played a show together, as Roy Orbison sadly died just after their debut album was released in 1988. The passing of George Harrison in 2001 and Tom Petty in 2017 meant that only Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne are left from the original line-up, so for the past few years the Trembling Wilburys have been giving audiences "the show that never was" to enormous acclaim. Their superb two- set show features a great mix of solo hits by all five original Wilburys, such as 'Here Comes the Sun', "Pretty Woman", "My Back Pages", 'Taxman', "I Won't Back Down", "If Not For You", "You Got It", 'Hold On Tight' and 'Roll Over Beethoven', as well as Traveling Wilburys' classics such as 'End of The Line', 'Handle With Care' and 'She's My Baby'. BAND MEMBERS: Michael Goulding as George Harrison Dave Collison as Roy Orbison Andy McNish as Bob Dylan & Tom Petty Marko Laver as Jeff Lynne Dzal Martin – Lead guitar Steve Salvari – Keyboards Dave Stark - Drums TICKETS £22.50 (PLUS BOOKING FEE). A RECENT REVIEW OF THE TREMBLING WILBURYS
The audience at the club absolutely loved them and the band had the great advantage of choosing from the huge selection of songs written by the individual Wilburys. So we had the Big O's rock 'n roll stompers Claudette and Mean Woman Blues; Tom Petty's West Coast number I Won't Back Down; Bob Dylan's country-flavoured I'll Be Your Baby Tonight and George's classic ballad Here Comes The Sun, as well as all the favourites you might expect.
I loved the way singer-guitarist Andy McNish (who performed as both Dylan and Petty) kept in character throughout the show; and also how the whole band provided superb backing vocals. Dave Collison has mastered to perfection the voice of Roy Orbison, not a mean feat as the Big O had one of the most distinctive voices in pop. Dave also works in his own right as the UK’s leading Roy Orbison tribute act.
The second set began with another selection of magnificent tunes including Harrison's Something, Hold On Tight - Marko Laver transforming into Jeff Lynne of ELO - and Dylan's My Back Pages. The band cleverly left the best Wilbury tracks to last - End Of The Line (the song that brought to an end the comedy series One Foot In The Grave) and the brilliant Handle With Care. The encores included Del Shannon's 1961 pop smash Runaway and a marathon version of Roll Over Beethoven, which linked both Harrison and Lynne.
Full marks to the three backing musicians too - long-term drummer Dave Stark; keyboard man Steve Salvari (hidden at the back of the Club) and lead guitarist and top session man Dzal Martin who was awesome on the solos on Something and You Got It. By the end there was a packed dance floor and Club members and guests went home happy after two and a quarter hours of great music.
