ANOUSKA ASSISI
Anouska is an award-winning 21-year-old singer-songwriter whose music is a compelling hybrid of folk rhythms delivered with soul and lyrical authenticity. Taking her inspiration from her heroes, KT Tunstall and Ed Sheeran, Anouska uses her voice, a guitar and a loop station to perform live, building each songs arrangement on the spot. Anouska has been producing her own material since she was 12, most recently a single 'Asymptomatic', and releases her new EP 'Naked Truth' this Friday (29th September). She performs live regularly, and this year has supported a number of artists, including Dr Feelgood, at concerts and festivals. Anouska made her headline debut at the Camden Chapel in Camden Town in March. Last month, she was featured on the radio – ‘BBC Introducing – Live Lounge’. Like Sherika, Anouska is very much on the music industry's radar, but one suspects that, also like Sherika, she will approach it on her own terms. SHERIKA SHERARD
Born and raised in South London, Sherika turned to performance and songwriting after listening to Marvin Gaye. She aims to explore her own deepest emotions and to warm the hearts of her listeners. Dropping out of University, Sherika decided to put her faith and determination to the test by becoming a full-time busker, graduating to prestigious venues like Ronnie Scott's, Jazz Cafe, Shoreditch House and The Century Club. Last year, British Soul Singer Seal invited her to open for two of his shows, in London and Brussels. This year, legendary film director Spike Lee picked her original song “We Don’t Need a Reason” to feature in his Netflix Series of “She’s Gotta Have it”. Sherika is also featured in a recent advert for Hyundai and has won a ‘Fender Undiscovered Artist’ award. Sherika has released music including her Album “Just Saying” and this years E.P “Patience and Fears”. She is a clear example of how the music industry has changed, aiming to forge a strong personal connection with her fans.
