COUNTERFEIT QUO. FRIDAY 17th FEBRUARY. THE NOMAD THEATRE, EAST HORSLEY
Counterfeit Quo, the UK's premier Status Quo tribute band, were live and rocking at the Nomad Theatre, on Friday 17th February, 2023. The band brought a packed house to its feet from the start, as they crashed their way through many of Quo's greatest hits. Opening with what must be the greatest opening number ever - what else but Caroline - the band covered all eras of Quo in two x one-hour sets - plus two encores. From the sixties psychedelia of Pictures of Matchstick Men and early favourites like Mean Girl, to popular rockers like Down Down and Paper Plane, not forgetting hits like In the Army Now and Margarita Time - all of them played accurately, tightly and very well indeed. These were talented professional musicians having fun - and the audience loved it all. Photos of a great evening are below - thanks to Simon Hillard - sihi_photography@instagram
You are guaranteed Heads-Down, No-Nonsense Boogie all the way, played on the familiar beaten-up green and white Telecasters by denim-clad likenesses of Status Quo. Expect wall to wall Marshall amps, buckets of sweat and more hair than you can shake a stick at.
An adrenaline-fuelled set will crash its way through many of Quo's greatest hits, such as Caroline, Down Down, Pictures Of Matchstick Men, Rocking All Over The World and Whatever You Want, as well as some of their better-known album tracks. Counterfeit Quo have been endorsed by Status Quo's very own Francis Rossi and the late, great Rick Parfitt, and have worked with John Coghlan, the band's original drummer and Rhino Edwards, the current bassist. They have toured all over the UK and Europe, and have appeared on BBC local and national radio. Status Quo are some act to follow. Formed in 1969, they have had over 60 chart hits in the UK - more than any other rock band - and 25 UK top ten albums. They rocked all over the world at Live Aid and continue to tour the world to this day. In their absence this evening, Counterfeit Quo guarantee an exciting, authentic performance that will delight Status Quo fans from the very first chord.
