FIRE AND RAIN & AMERICAN PIE. THE NOMAD THEATRE, FRIDAY 17th NOVEMBER
'FIRE & RAIN & AMERICAN PIE' is a heart-warming, musical homage to the great American singer-songwriters of the late 60’s and early 70’s, featuring beautiful timeless songs from James Taylor, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Don Mclean, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Simon & Garfunkel, America, The Byrds, Mamas and Papas and Carly Simon. The show features an excellent five-piece band performing classic songs from this golden era including ‘You’ve got a Friend’, ‘American Pie’, ‘Fire and Rain’, ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, ‘Vincent, ‘Horse with no Name’, ’Mrs Robinson’, ‘Make it with you’, ‘Feelin’ Groovy’, ‘California Dreaming’, ‘You’re So Vain’, ‘Woodstock’ and many more! The show has a relaxed acoustic style, matching the spirit of this era, when many of these artists were neighbours in the Laurel Canyon suburb of L.A. With an intimate nostalgic narrative including images from that time, the show is sometimes poignant, sometimes amusing, always delightful. It is produced and hosted by singer-guitarist Paul Wheeler (TV Director, ‘Live at the Apollo’) with Sophie Langham (West-End actress-singer and formerly Eastenders). This is a truly excellent show - brilliantly conceived and beautifully executed. For a flavour, watch the YouTube video below - just click on the white arrow! |
This was a fantastic show, more than living up to its hype. Heartwarming, musical and hugely enjoyable. All the photos below were taken at our show on 17.11.23 by amateur photographers.
This is what the band said: "Thank you for everything yesterday. We felt very looked after. An absolute joy to perform for you guys and gals. A super appreciative audience and thank you for being such amazing hosts. The whole experience of performing for the Horsley music club was wonderful." |
