East Horsley Parish Council is organising the second Horsley Big Day Out, which will take place in the beautiful grounds of historic Horsley Towers on Sunday July 2nd. The Horsley Live Music Club has again been asked to organise the live music programme, which will run all afternoon, with four live bands, culminating in the fantastic tribute band, Not the Rolling Stones.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The Horsley Big Day Out is organised and funded by East Horsley Parish Council and supported by local businesses including De Vere (owners of Horsley Towers), Wimbledon Carriage, Wills and Smerdon, Silent Pool Gin and Russell & Co. As well as music, there will be a Classic Car show, Children’s Activities, Tours of Horsley Towers, delicious Food and Drink plus, a Wellness Festival – Horsley WellFest. Gates open at 1.30 and it all kicks off at 2pm. Entry is COMPLETELY FREE for pedestrians. There is a small charge for the car park and it is best to book in advance as spaces are limited. FOUR LIVE BANDS FROM 2.15 - 7.00
DOORS OPEN 1.30 - GRAB THE BEST SPOT! 2.15 UNFINISHED BUSINESS Unfinished Business features club members Peter Earle, George Stein and Steve McGurk. For this event, they are joined by singer, Sarah Geary, Trevor (from Apache Rose) on drums and Mark Beasley on bass. The band are fulfilling their musical dreams, cruelly interrupted by careers and families, with an eclectic and harmonious acoustic-based sound that’s ideally-suited to today’s bucolic atmosphere. 3.30 THE XR3 The XR3 play souped-up, stripped-down versions of classic songs by great bands like Dr Feelgood, The Jam, The Police and the Who. The track record of the three band members ranges from top tribute acts like Ultimate Elton, Genesis Visible Touch and Fragile Yes, to leading jazz fusion band Curfew, and London and Surrey bands like the Lounge Lizards, Prey, The Redemptions, Route 66 and the Surrey Pumas. The XR3 are club members Mark Beasley on Telecaster Guitar and Steve Marshall on Fretless Bass, plus drum legend Russ Wilson. www.the-XR3.weebly.com 4.30 APACHE ROSE Apache Rose is a four-piece rock covers band that gigs regularly throughout the South of England. They look, act and - most importantly - sound like all your favourite rock bands rolled into one. The band plays rock songs from the 60s to 00s, covering bands like AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin.
