AT HORSLEY TOWERS. SUNDAY 21st JULY 2024 POSTSCRIPT Photo of the gig (above). After listening in respectufl silence, a full-house got to its feet, danced, applauded and demanded an encore. What a great gig! The Horsley Live Music Club is proud to present Connolly Hayes, one of the UK's most talented contemporary blues bands. A hot new band tipped for greater things, playing a showcase gig here in Horsley - we can guarantee that this will be a fantastic evening of beautifully-performed live music. Formed last year, Connolly Hayes brings together the dynamic vocal harmonies and stunning musicanship of Jess Hayes and Frankie Connolly - each a rising star in their own right - supported by a top-class band. Connolly Hayes are the real deal and we are fortunate indeed to be able to enjoy their carefully-curated blend of soulful blues before they depart for the festival circuit and a European tour. "A warm combination of gritty blues and smooth soul" UK Blues Awards 2024 UK Emerging Act of The Year nominee. "A blues-fuelled, soulful singer with a powerhouse of a voice." "One of the most exciting young guitarists on the planet. Even at the age of 18, his playing caused audible thuds as jaws dropped to the floor!" This is a fully-seated show, in the atmospheric and historic setting of the Great Hall at Horsley Towers. The bar will be open from 7.00 until 11.00. The show will start promptly at 8.00 and the band will perform two sets, with an interval, finishing at 10.00. Seating is unallocated. ‘Connolly Hayes’ comprises Jess Hayes on vocals, Frankie Connolly on lead guitar and vocals, Richard Clarke on guitar, Beau Barnard on bass, Andy Wilder on drums and Joe Mac on keyboards. Jess Hayes is a young blues-fuelled, soulful singer/songwriter with a powerhouse of a voice. She emerged onto the South London scene as a teenager having been raised on the classic sounds of Stevie Nicks, Bad Company, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat and more by her musician parents. You may have seen Jess on The Voice last year (where she turned all four chairs). Frankie Connolly is an outstanding guitarist and vocalist, who has gained a reputation for his authentic, committed and soulful singing and playing. With his own band, Frankie performed in the UK and Europe, including Ronnie Scott's Club (see video to right). The band plays their own original material as well as covers of classic blues and soul songs (listen to the videos to the right), drawing inspiration from artists such as Bros Landreth, Tedeschi Trucks, Marcus King and Chris Stapleton. 2024 sees the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album - expect to hear some of the tracks at this show. The band already has a stellar reputation for live performances with the blend of two of the most soulful voices around, guitar wizardry from both sides of the stage and the grooviest rhythm section going. Prepare to be amazed at just how good this band are. Live music is in very safe hands indeed: let's give it every chance to succeed.
