STEVE BROOKES
Steve is a singer, songwriter and talented guitarist, who is co-founder and former lead guitarist of The Jam. He started out in Woking's pubs and clubs at fourteen and co-founded The Jam with his childhood best friend Paul Weller. He left after four years, deciding the direction of the band was not in keeping with his own blues and roots musical influences. This is his third appearance at Horsley Live Music Club and he is an Honorary Member - there is a video on this page of his last appearance. After a break, Steve has honed his craft writing his own material and playing venues in and around Surrey, along with appearances at Blues Festivals around the UK. Since 2008, he has produced six albums of original songs, all of which are highly recommended. The title track of his album, Snakes and Ladders, was played on Radio 2 by Paul Jones, and was followed by a live performance with Paul Jones at Cranleigh. Hoodoo Zoo featured Paul Weller on a couple of tracks, followed by a new album released in September 2021 called Tread Gently. Steve has collaborated and performed with Paul Weller on Weller's own albums, including 22 Dreams, Wake Up the Nation, Jawbone soundtrack, True Meanings and the Number One album On Sunset in 2020. Steve received a Silver Disc for his contribution to Paul Weller's Saturn's Pattern in 2015. Last year, Steve performed with Paul at a charity gig in Liverpool - see the video on this page. JOHN PEPPARD Grammy-nominated songwriter John Peppard, originally from Derry in Northern Ireland, now lives in Surrey. This is his third appearance at Horsley Live Music Club and he is an Honorary Member. John has written songs for major acts such as Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood and Michael McDonald. Those lucky enough to have seen him will know that he is an extremely talented singer and songwriter, highly proficient on both acoustic and electric guitar. His softly-spoken charm easily draws the audience into his stories of Nashville, songwriting and open guitar tunings. John makes regular trips to Nashville, where he has written with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Bernie Chiaravalle, Marshall Crenshaw, Charlie Dore and George Marinelli, amongst many others. His songs have been recorded by artists in Australia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway and the USA. “Blessing In Disguise” featured on Michael McDonald’s 2017 album “Wide Open”, "Things Are Gonna Change" was a Number 1 song in Norway and the song "Numb" was featured in the US TV show "Smallville". John co-wrote the Grammy award-winning song "In Another's Eyes" for Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. It was a Number 1 song in the USA and has been featured on albums selling in excess of 25 million copies. TICKETS ARE £25 INCL. BOOKING FEE - TO BOOK, CLICK HERE |
