CHRISTMAS NEWSLETTER - REVIEW OF 2025
23.12.25 2025 has been a year to remember for Horsley Live Music Club. Our Christmas Party last week was the 50th live music show we have run since we started in 2022. That’s quite something and we thank the many people who have been involved for their support. During 2025, we ran twelve live music shows in seven different locations around Horsley. We are lucky indeed to be able to work with the Nomad Theatre, Horsley Towers (Great Hall and Garden), St Martin’s Church, the Barley Mow (Malting House and Garden) and East Horsley Village Hall. In some small way, it really does feel like we have helped to bring the community together. Every show has been an absolute joy. From some wonderful tribute acts to some outstanding original artists. Who could forget Horsley’s first-ever Ceilidh, our Summer Party which raised more than £2,000 for charity, or the sight and sound of thousands of people singing along with ABBA Revival at the Horsley Big Day Out? Earlier this month, we were humbled to be presented with the East Horsley Parish Council Chairman’s Award for an outstanding contribution to the community. Perhaps we should not under-estimate the value of 50 high-quality live music events – all in Horsley – and everything that goes with that. During 2025, we launched an initiative to encourage local children to play music. The club has paid for class ‘packs’ of ukuleles and recorders, which were delivered to the Raleigh school in September. We are also funding tuition for guitar and piano lessons and providing additional musical instruments where needed. We are currently planning for 2026. Our first show will be a little bit special: a Celebration of the Great American Songbook, with the Sarah Jane Eveleigh Quintet. Some of the greatest songs ever written, performed by some of the best musicians in London. This rather classy evening will take place on February 14th at the Nomad Theatre and tickets will be announced very soon. If you would like to be involved in any way in 2026, we’d love to hear from you. But above all, please come to the shows, because it’s all about the music. Our thanks go to the committee – Andy Gibson, Matthew Young, Paul Waterer, Peter Warburton and Steve Harvey - without whom none of this would happen. We all send you our best wishes for Christmas and the New Year MARK BEASLEY | PETER EARLE | FOUNDERS HORSLEY LIVE MUSIC CLUB www.horsleylivemusic.com |
