ABOUT THE BAND The Ceilidh Tree are a friendly and experienced band creating an authentic and lively Scottish folk sound. Having attended ceilidhs, sessions and folk festivals from a tender age we’re passionate about spreading the joys of folk dance far and wide! Our line up includes fiddle, accordion, guitar and our amazing caller – the undoubted star of the show. Watch the videos on this page! WHAT EXACTLY IS A CEILIDH? If you’ve never heard of a ceilidh fear not! A ceilidh usually involves a person called the “caller” explaining a sequence of dance moves to a group of people who then dance along with live music. It’s vital to say that ceilidhs should be FUN! The experience of being on the dance floor with friends, family or complete strangers is thrilling and when combined with lovely tunes, enjoyable dances, a slight sense of chaos and (most importantly) a great caller, it makes for a fantastically entertaining experience. We speak with people all the time that have experienced their very first time and are now brimming with enthusiasm for all things ceilidh!I In a world where communal experiences are becoming rarer, ceilidhs satisfy a deep rooted desire we all have for interaction. RABBIE BURNS AND BURNS NIGHT This event is being held the day after January 25th - this is 'Burns Night', when Scots all over the world celebrate the birth of Robert Burns, also known as Rabbie Burns, the great Scottish poet and lyricist. Burns is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. Think of 'Auld Lang Syne', 'A man's a man for a' that' or 'wee timorous cowering beastie'. Not to mention 'Ode to a Haggis'! ABOUT THIS EVENT This event is being run by members of the community and promoted by the Horsley Live Music Club. We are a not for profit group of local music enthusiasts - all volunteers - who put on regular music events in the Horsley area for our members and their guests. Home Still not booked your tickets?
